Pricing and rebates

Before booking an appointment, we will discuss all session fees and rebate options with you.

Session Fees and Payment
Psychology appointments generally last around 50 minutes, and fees are payable at the conclusion of each session. We are an electronic billing practice and do not accept cash payments. Payment is usually required on the day of the appointment, and EFTPOS facilities are available.

Strong Foundations Psychology aims to make therapy accessible while maintaining the quality and comprehensive service we provide. Our fees reflect the costs of running a practice, including the significant amount of non-billable time and behind-the-scenes work that goes in to providing a quality psychological service (e.g., clinical record keeping, case conferencing, session preparation, resource development, and report writing).

Our current session fee is $230 per 50 minute session

Depending on your situation and referral, there are options to reduce out-of-pocket costs through rebates or government funding schemes.

Rebates and Funding Options
The most common schemes available to reduce costs include:

  • Medicare (Mental Health Treatment Plans, Autism Assessment and Treatment sessions, Chronic Disease Management Plans — all require a GP/Paediatrician referral) Please note that all fees must be paid in full before rebate information is submitted to Medicare for payment.

  • Private Health Insurance (please check your level of cover before booking)

  • NDIS (Self Managed or Plan Managed clients)

Bulk billing

Strong Foundations Psychology does not provide bulk-billed consultations.

Medicare Rebate (Better Access Initiative) Information
To access Medicare rebates for psychological therapy, you will need a valid GP Mental Health Treatment Plan. This plan provides rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. GP reviews and new referral letters are required after the 6th and 10th sessions.

Please note, a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan does not provide free sessions, gap fees apply.

Chronic Disease Management Plan

Please speak to your GP to see if you are eligible for a CDMP, which may provide rebates for up to up to 5 sessions if treatment is related to the management of a Chronic Disease.

Private Health Insurance
Our services are claimable through private health insurance. Please check with your insurer about your level of cover before booking, as the full fee will be charged. Fees are required to be paid on the day, after which you will be able to submit a claim to your health insurance provider.

Assessments
NDIS or private health insurance may cover assessment fees. We offer psycho-educational and adaptive functioning assessments and recommend contacting your NDIS or private health provider to discuss payment options. Prices vary, and we can provide a fixed-price quote for assessments, reports, and follow-up with third parties (e.g., schools, community organisations, Pediatricians, etc.).

Feel free to contact us for any further questions or assistance with the referral process.

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 2 business days' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments prevent other clients from receiving timely care. A missed appointment fee, equivalent to the session cost, will apply if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment or fail to attend without notifying the clinic. Cancellation fees are not covered by Medicare. Please see our full Cancellation Policy for more information
